Josephine Meechan

June 30 1930 – October 30, 2011

It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to our beautiful mother, Josephine Meechan, surrounded by her 4 children, her most beloved pride and joy. After a brief illness, Josie passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the age of 81 at the Hamilton General. Predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas (2000), survived by her 4 children, John (Jennifer), Gerald (Heather), Dennis and Kay(Robbie)Meilleur. Cherished grandmother to Meghan, Andrew, Taylor, Collin, Hudson and Kennedy. Josephine was a long time employee of the DSBN, retiring from Edith Cavell. She was a member of the St. Catharines Scottish Club and a devoted member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed by close friend John Clark and family, as well as many friends and family in Canada, Scotland and the USA. The family would like to extend thanks to staff at the SCGH, especially Dr. Tim St. Amand, Dr. Anna Kobylecky and staff at the HGH, with special thanks to nurse Kim Barker, “thanks for being you”.

The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905-684-6346) on Tuesday November 1, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Vigil Prayers will take place at 8:30p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 169 St.Paul Crescent on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
