In his 95 year, passed away on October 9, 2018. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Annie Elizabeth (Barwell) Carpenter (2005). Cherished father of John Stewart (Helen), Bruce Andrew (Barbara), Brian Aeneas (Sara), and Joanne Elizabeth Paolozzi (Michael). Loving grandfather of Beverly (Andrew), Brent (Renée), Christine, John, Christopher, Becky (Richard), Ashley (Daniel), and Annie. Treasured great-grandfather of Cole, Lauren, Claire, Harrison, Madeline, and Juliet. Predeceased by his parents Aeneas Carpenter (1931) and Jean (McLachlan) Carpenter (1964) and sisters Margaret Schmaltz, Myrtle Bolton, and Mary Bolton.
John was a veteran of the Second World War. Proudly serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Battle of the Atlantic. He was a member and former president of the Royal Canadian Naval Association (Niagara) and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 73 years. John retired from the Ontario Paper Company as the Director of Human Resources after 42 years, having held various positions within the company. He was the James Whyte Award recipient given to the Most Valuable Athlete for the Town of Thorold in the year 1942. He also coached and managed various minor sports in the Town of Thorold. John was long time member and warden of St. Johns Anglican Church, Thorold and continues to this day to be a devoted member of St Columba Anglican Church, St. Catharines. His community and charitable involvement was widely acknowledged and appreciated, he was truly a person who cared deeply for his fellow citizens. The family would like to give special thanks to the NHS St. Catharines Site and the compassionate third floor staff. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Raymond Harb, dad's family physician for many years. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Heatherwood Retirement Residence staff, and to his fellow residents and friends for the good times had.

A celebration of life for John Aeneas Carpenter will be held on Saturday November 17, 2018 11:00 am at St. Columba Church 7 St. Columba Dr., St Catharines. Interment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. A lunch will follow at St Columba Church Hall. Family & Friends are welcome.
