Jim .. you always went a million miles for me  finding tenants when I needed them .. honourable honest hard working .. we were friends for many many years .. outside of business we had some great times together .. at your cottage and mine .. oh how sad to hear from Bill about your passing on Xmas Day .. rest in peace .. buddy I miss you .. thanks for everything you did for me .. Ahh " Yumpin Yiminee " my little brother. The time...to share memories...The time...Tex (our father) coached our baseball club, the Kitchener Angels. Jimmy, our batboy, shocking white hair and halo sweater hanging past his knees. The time...riding my shoulders in the front yard, arms in the air, flexing his muscles and on top of the world. The time... building the garage on Belleview Ave where ultimately Jim and our dad completed the build of our speedboat and trailer. Man did it fly! The time...building our sister and brother-in-law (Janet & Tom) cottage on Eileen Gowen Island in the Muskoka's with Jimmy, his late wife Barbara (God Bless her Soul) and my friend Danny. The many times...on Anna Maria Island in Florida vacationing with Vern & Bette (mom & dad) fishing, golfing, playing shuffleboard and swimming in the gulf. The time...selling Industrial Real Estate together for 13 years, staying in the office after hours playing monopoly and getting our butts kicked by brother-in-law Tommy Connell. The time...line mates, playing hockey in the Markham Sunday night league where we lost in the final in double over-time uggg. Our teammate Brian Noad (Noady) who also passed this Christmas Day will certainly faceoff with Yumpin in heaven. The time...up at Jimmy's cottage, drinking beer and playing music with our cousin Mike on the mandolin, me on the guitar and Jimmy singing his lungs out. We were terrible! The time...at the cottage with Margie and Jimmy down by the lake, full gear, pouring rain and giggling like little kids trying to keep the campfire going. The time… Every Monday night was Jimmy’s sub night and like clockwork he would call us, we’d put him on speaker and yell YUMPIN!!!!The time...May 2022 on the west coast in the gulf islands with our older brother Terry and Jims' girlfriend Elizabeth Lee and friends. Salmon fishing, prawn trapping and a full night with brother Terry on guitar and Yumpin singing the song "Lazy Bird" a song Terry wrote for the Canadian Film Board of Canada. Followed by our ferry ride, a couple nights stay in Whistler and our tour through Fraser Canyon and home to the Okanagan Valley. What a vacation it was! That was the last time I saw my brother Jim. I hope this will inspire others to share their memories. 

God I miss him.

You’ll be with me for the rest of my days.. Each time I step down into a tin boat,  play darts outside, check the Canadian Tire flyer, hook a smally that feels like a biggy, see the number 19, see a riding lawnmower that reminds me of your Lawnburgini, and rolling around the backroads in a pickup named Nancy Green. These are the things I hold dear. To JK. TK. BK. family and friends. We’ll light a candle..Peace

It was by accident that I became aware of Jims passing  browsing at the obits .  Jim was an old high school buddy    .  We were a pretty tight team for a while . He eventually dumped me for Barb which was obviously a very smart decision .  He ate dinner with my family and was on a just walk in the door without knocking basis . We hitchhiked up the the Muskoka's  when it was relatively safe to do so and I cant recall if we even made it to our destination but really didnt matter . We had a heck of a time.   Vern ( father ) let us take the boat he basically hand built in his garage on the back of the yellow 67 Chrysler to Puslinch Lake by ourselves when we couldnt have been more then 18 and Jim took the reins and was really in his glory .  Great memories , great guy. My deepest sympathies to his surviving family and close friends

Dear Family,
We were next door neighbours of Gwen, Barb and Jim on Sand Lake for almost 40 years. We didn’t get to see them that often because we live close to Boston.  
So many times over the years we remarked, that you could not have better, caring neighbours. Barb would make wonderful dinners, including a Thanksgiving feast, and if you ever needed a hand, Jim was right there. We would bring tools, and the manpower to get you through a project. He would drop what he was doing, and show up without asking.
Jim found such peace at the lake. The beauty and serenity of the place never grew old, and you could see his joy in being there. 
We will always remember his kind and giving spirit. Just loved the picture of him on the boat. That says it all.

We have been next door neighbours of Jim's at Sand Lake for 40 years.  Our families celebrated many a meal together, at Jim's cottage or on our deck overlooking the lake, games of horse shoes were played, the annual making of the family's secret relish recipe, fun evenings spent sitting round the fire pit, helping one another with numerous construction projects. Jim was always the first person to pitch in to help in any situation or task.
Throughout the cottage season Jim would navigate Toronto and 401 traffic, to arrive at the lake Friday evening, packing in as much fishing, projects & fun as possible, waving good-bye early Monday mornings and calling out "see you next weekend".  Jim loved being at the lake!
We are shocked & saddened to learn of Jim's sudden passing and will dearly miss our very good friend and neighbour.  Being at the lake will not be the same without him.
