It is with great sadness that the family of Heather Ashley Winterstein announces her sudden, unexpected and tragic passing on December 10, 2021 at the age of 24. Predeceased by her grandfather Eugene Winterstein, grandmother Audrey Shimizu, grandmother Marita Johnson, uncle Glenn Winterstein, and aunts Carol (Larry) Lamb and Dale King. Heather is survived by her parents Mark (Rosemary) Winterstein and Francine (Randy) Orgar-Shimizu, brother Ronan Arthur (Gabby) Shimizu, grandfather Dr. Arthur Shimizu, grandfather Frank Orgar, grandmother Phyllis Winterstein; aunts Jill (Ryan) Shimizu-Lunn, Bobbi (Jim) Johnson and Joanne (Ken); uncles Kevin Winterstein and Gary Winterstein; cousins Audrey Winterstein, Mackenzie Gourlay, Alison Rockwell, Molly Wilson, and many other cousins. Heather leaves behind many close friends and her dearly loved pets Bug, Birb, Peanut, Jug, and Luke.
Heather loved going on hikes with her dad, where she would collect bouquets of wildflowers and rocks. Some of her favourite times were spent walking her dog Bug, especially with her dad, and going on shopping sprees with her mom. Her absolute favourite colour was pink. Heather was a very spiritual person who had a strong relationship with Jesus. She was very artistically inclined. Heather was on an educational plan (IEP) because she was determined to be gifted in the arts. She had a goal to become a nurse like her mom, a goal she certainly could have achieved as she had a very deeply caring personality.
