Peacefully entered into rest surrounded by love of his family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s on Monday, February 6, 2023. Gary in his 84th year was the beloved husband of Helen (nee Haynes) for 59 years. Loving and cherished Dad of Brent McSpadden (Janet) and Susan (Craig Gaynor). Devoted and much loved grandpa of Katelyn (Tyler Spyker) of Alberta, Andrew McSpadden, Ryan, Bryce and Ian Gaynor. Treasured great grandpa of Parker Spyker of Alberta. Predeceased by his mother and father; Clara and Fred McSpadden and by his brother Don. Dearly loved son-in-law of the late Donald and Viola Haynes. Fondly remembered by the Gaynor and Elson families, many relatives and friends.
Gary led a productive 32 year career in the automotive industry with TRW. Throughout his life Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed many family trips and especially loved camping, fishing and kayaking. An annual cottage trip to Sauble Beach with the grandchildren was always a summer highlight! There are many cherished memories of Gary and his family beside a cozy campfire. Gary and Helen were fortunate to have many wonderful travel adventures together, enjoying everything from an Alaska cruise to warm Caribbean beaches. Family was always first for Gary and he dedicated himself to providing for them in so many ways.
