Clara Klaartje Maaike Vandersluis Hiemstra

Clara passed peacefully from the arms of her family into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Hospice Niagara. She will be missed by her best friend and soul mate of 52 years, her beloved husband Chris. Loving mother of John Hiemstra (Heather Lockhart), Robert (Michele) Hiemstra, Jennifer (Marc) Caron and Michelle (Mark) Diegidio. Cherished Oma of Danielle, Kyle, Alyssa, Mackenzie, Kaden, Warren, and especially missed by TK (Taryn). Loving sister of Ada Fletcher. Predeceased by her brother Arie Vandersluis. She will be missed by her brothers and sisters in law and will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to our church family, Dr. B. Kerley and the staff and volunteers at Hospice Niagara for their special care, support and compassion.

The family will receive friends at the Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 278 Parnell Rd., on Monday, May 27, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Clara’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church. A private burial will be held at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Hospice Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
