Known to family as Cheech, he will be forever missed by siblings Mike (Jenny), Maurice and Kathy, sister-in-law Sylvia, brothers-in-law Paul and Jules, his heartbroken God daughter Kim as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Charlie is predeceased by his parents Alex and Julie, siblings Anne, Leo and Margie, sister-in-law Mary and step father Murdock. Charlie will also be fondly remembered by his dearest friend Wayne (Tracey).
Charlie was known as a generous and kind man. He had a hilarious sense of humour and a penchant for one liners that kept us all amused. Charlie was a wonderfully creative soul on so many levels. He was an exceptional Royal Conservatory trained pianist with an immeasurable love of music. His piano passion began at a young age in Glace Bay while listening to his father play. He took such joy in making CDs to share with friends and family. It was always a thrill when Cheech made a new Christmas CD for our enjoyment.
He loved to make films, dating all the way back to the era of super 8. He was known to enlist family and friends to act out wonderful montages. He had tonnes of love to give especially to his parrots, Leo and Einstein. They were raised by hand and trained with patience and love. He gave them starring roles in his remake of Godzilla. Lots of fun and treasured memories were well made!
Charlie retired in 2013, after successful careers at both Sterling Paint and Varnish and Brock University.
Heartfelt thank yous to the incredible and devoted Linhaven Secord staff who took such great care of him. He so much appreciated the kindness and respect that was always shown to him in the place he called home.
A special thank you to Dr. Lagrotteria and his Nephrology staff at the St Catharine’s hospital who provided many years of amazing care.
In keeping with Charlie's wishes, private arrangements were entrusted to Hulse and English. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made in Charlie's name to The Kidney Foundation.
