Sarah Nicole Sanguinet, age 31, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020. Sarah was a beloved daughter, sister and friend. She was a passionate soccer coach and player, a sports enthusiast, athlete and major advocate for women’s soccer. She was a driven journalist and spent much of her career chasing her passion and writing sports stories. When she wasn’t coaching soccer, you could find her playing on the field herself. She started playing soccer at five years old, continued in high school and college, and still played recreationally multiple days a week in her adult life. Her mean left-footed shot was dangerous and her competitive nature was inspiring.
Sarah graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2012 and spent the last several years living and working in her hometown of St. Louis. For the last five years, she coached two youth girls soccer teams for JB Marine Soccer Club. She was dedicated to empowering young women and her extraordinary enthusiasm for soccer will live on in others.
Her infectious and robust laughter combined with her glowing smile illuminated every room she stepped foot in. She loved music, cooking, traveling and working out. Sarah also loved animals and the outdoors. She was fearless, curious and not afraid to ask whatever was on her mind. Many describe her as someone who was truly full of life, energy and love. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Sarah is survived by her mother, Robin Sanguinet, her father, Bruce Sanguinet, her brother, Brian Sanguinet, her sister, Lauren Sanguinet, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
