Lorraine J. Rouse (nee Kellogg), 89, of Florissant, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Mildred Kellogg and her husband, Arthur D. Rouse. Lorraine is survived by her children, David (Becky), Dan, Chris (Cindy), Harold, and her precious cat, Annie; grandchildren, Matt, Dawn (Mike), and Amy; great grandchildren, Logan and Dylan; and special friends of many years, Betty and Marie.
Lorraine was the rock of her family. Widowed as a young woman, Lorraine raised her boys on her own and was incredibly independent, resourceful, strong, and loving. Caring for people was Lorraine’s destiny and her kindness spread throughout her life. She also loved animals and offered her home to many through the years. She was an incredible cook and when the boys were growing up, all the neighborhood kids wanted to come to her home to eat her tasty ham and beans though their own homes may have been serving something more eloquent. Lorraine was obsessed about giving birthday dinners and would plan them months in advance for those she loved. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, and gardening and feeding her birds—cardinals were her favorite. Lorraine was an amazing lady and she will be missed greatly.
Friends may visit on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann. Service is on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment follows at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to the Salvation Army, a charity which Lorraine supported strongly. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.alexanderstlouis.com.
