John Arthur Ingersoll, age 80, of Overland, passed away at his home on February 11, 2014. He is the beloved husband of Linda Ingersoll, nee Werner, who survives. They were married November 22, 1980, in St. Louis.
Mr. Ingersoll was born June 26, 1933, in Peekskill, New York, a son of John A. and Dorothy Ingersoll, nee Zetlin. He is also survived by his daughters Darla Mayhew of Mission, Texas, Lee Ann Dials of McAllen, Texas, and Karen Harper of St. Louis; a sister Carol Burghduf of Muskegon, Mich.; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
John was a past board member of Trans Union Credit Bureau Credit Bureau, as well as Consumer Credit Counseling Service. He also serviced a president of ICA and served as Secretary of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he was a longtime member.
John loved sports and his most celebrated accomplishment was in 1971 when he shot a hole in one and bowled a 299 game in the same week. He was never able to repeat this accomplishment, though the effort was given.
John was a member of the Fabulous Feet tap dance group that entertained at nursing homes retirement parties and various shows.
A memorial gathering will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 9153 East Milton, Overland, Mo. A Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 14, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Mo.
