Dorothy Lee Lakas, age 95, of St. Peters, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. She is reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death, including her parents; John and Minnie (nee Hackworth) Hillis, her husband, Benjamin Lakas, her son, Richard Lakas, her daughter, Karen Finch along with her grandson, John Edward Finch. Dorothy’s loyal companion, her furbaby Warthog, also crossed the rainbow bridge to join her. Dorothy’s legacy lives on through her surviving family members, including her devoted son, James Lakas, a son-in-law, John Finch, a daughter-in-law, Melissa Lakas, and her cherished three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sweet puppy Termite, who brought her endless joy, will undoubtedly miss her presence deeply.
Dorothy was a dedicated member of her church, First Baptist Church of St. Ann; she tirelessly gave of herself to support the mission. Her commitment to helping those in need was a testament to her compassionate nature. She worked as a caregiver for most of her life, dedicating her time and energy to caring for disabled children, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts. Dorothy had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family when possible. Her nimble fingers found solace in crocheting and knitting, crafting beautiful treasures for her family and friends. Among her talents, Dorothy was renowned within her family for a special treat known as “Mother’s Cream Cake.” Her son, James, especially cherished her culinary skills, relishing in her delicious meals and desserts. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Alexander - White - Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 Saint Charles Rock Road, St. Ann, MO 63074. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, at the exact location
