

Born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin on September 30, 1938, Bill was the youngest son of the late Oscar Wilhelm Derge and Lucille Angeline Scholovicz. From 1956-1960 he served in the U.S. Army. Bill graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in 1965 from the University of Wisconsin and in 1967 he earned a Certified Public Accountant designation. Bill spent the remainder of his working years in government service, including positions at: the General Accounting Office (1965-1969), the Civil Service Commission (1969-1971), and within the Department of the Interior at the National Park Service (1971-1973) and the Office of the Secretary (1973-2002).
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents Oscar and Lucille, his sister Joyce (Bischoff), and his grandson Kenneth (Carron). He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Muzine (Markley) Derge, their two children, Brian (Claire) Derge and Katherine (Ryan) Carron, his brother Glen Derge, his sister Gale (Duwayne) Crist, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill cherished his role as a grandfather and was survived by six grandchildren: Heidi, Hudson, Beau and Ani (Derge) and Rory and Grady (Carron).
Bill enjoyed watching sports and old western movies. He had a lively sense of humor and was known for his enthusiastic love of pictures (particularly those of his grandchildren), photo editing skills (the latter at times, comically applied), and maintaining old Chevy’s well past their life expectation. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
