Samuel J. Marsh was born April 20, 1949 to the late Henry R. and Dorothy F. Marsh of Warrenton, VA, and left us on January 21, 2014. He is survived by his sons, Samuel, Jr. "Sam" and James Marsh. He is also survived by his siblings William, Edward, Marceline, Sandie, Gloria and Peggy, in addition to a large extended family.
Sam served proudly in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division and is an honored Viet Nam Vet. Memorial Service will be held at the American Legion Post 176, 6520 Amherst Ave, Springfield, VA on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Main Hall with reception to directly follow.
Sam Marsh, 64 of Springfield, VA, passed away January 21, 2014, at Alexandria INovaHospital after a long battle with cancer. Sam was born April 20,1949 in Fauquier Co, he married Patricia Boyette, of Falls Church, VA in 1971, and later married Paula Williams of Arlington, VA in 1988, Sam's soul mate preceded him in death 15 years later. Sam is survived by sons, Sam Marsh, Jr. of Austin, TX & James Marsh , of Arlington, VA., step- children Theresa Dominguez & John Williams, siblings, Bill Marsh, Eddie Marsh, Marcie Green, Sandie Haught , Gloria Payne & Peggy Buvia. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry & Dorothy Marsh, brother, Elwood Marsh, sisters, Frances Exline & Charlotte Harvey. A proud Vietnam War vet, and member of the 101st Airborne, "The Screaming Eagles". Sam earned numerous medals for heroism in action, while engaged in military service against hostile actions. The discipline & patriotism he learned in the Army became an incremental part of his personality, a quiet man with an unshakable work ethic, but was always available for friends and family when needed. Sam touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime, we are very thankful that God placed Sam in our family, his presence in our lives is a gift we will always be thankful for, He will be truly missed. A Memorial service will be Feb 1, 2014; 2pm at American Legion Post 176, 6520 Amherst Ave, Springfield, VA in the Main Hall. Interment at Arlington Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Sam ́s honor to the American Cancer Society.
