Robert Young

Brigadier General, USA (Ret.) On Monday, November 2, 2015, BG Robert S. Young died at the age of 90 in Annandale, VA. Robert was born in Macon, GA, in 1925; he enlisted in the Army as an infantry private in 1943 and remained on active duty for 38 years. He served in 3 wars and retired at the rank of Brigadier General in 1982. During his honorable military service, Robert was awarded a Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge. He earned a Doctorate of Business Administration from George Washington University while still on active duty. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 68 years, Rose E. Young (Annandale), son Steve Young (Annandale), daughter Theresa Meadows (Leavenworth), son-in-law Plaudy Meadows (Leavenworth) and granddaughter, Olivia Meadows (St. Louis). Viewing will be held for family and friends at Demaine Funeral Home at 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA, on Thursday, November 12 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Services will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Friday, November 13, at 12 pm at 7401 St. Michaels Lane, Annandale, VA. Robert’s Military funeral with honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
