Rita Johnston

It is with great sadness that the family of Rita Darlene (Hayworth) Johnston announces her sudden passing at her home in Springfield, Virginia, on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the age of 66. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband and best friend of 46 years, Terry Ray and her children, Steven and his wife Andrea of South Riding, Virginia and David of Tampa, Florida. Rita will also be fondly remembered and missed by her four grandchildren, Michael, David, Jillian, and Justin. She will be affectionately remembered by her sister, Ann Aievoli, and her brother James Hayworth. Rita was predeceased by her parents, Offie and Zona Hayworth and six siblings, Billy Jean Hayworth, Betty Jane Severt, Offie Hayworth, Jr., Carroll Hayworth, Drema Hayworth, and Dean Hayworth. Rita will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. Rita was born in Beckley, West Virginia, the eighth of eight children. She moved to Northern Virginia at the age of 20 after marrying the love of her life. She was a resident of Northern Virginia for 46 years. She loved children dearly and showed extravagant love to her nieces and nephews, friends’ and neighbors’ children and was considered everyone’s favorite. She provided childcare until she began working for Fairfax County Public Schools. Her pride and joy were her own children and upon her retirement, she enjoyed nothing more than being with them and her grandchildren in whom she greatly delighted. Rita was loving, kind, and devoted to her family and friends. All who knew her knew that there was no one like her and that she was truly special. She will be greatly missed and forever loved. Rita had faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and we know she is in the presence of her Heavenly Father and that we will one day see her again.
