A Wonderful Life Pauline Antoinette Dolan, 101, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 with her family at home in Springfield, Virginia. Pauline, the daughter of Joseph and Antonia Nino Palo, was born February 23, 1918 in Poland Mines, Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Thomas William Dolan, Sr.; sisters, Rose Taylor, Ann Narcisso, Margaret Dionisi, and her brothers, Joseph Palo, Elmer Palo, and twin brother, Vince Palo. Pauline was beloved by her family and friends who were her greatest joy. The devoted wife of Tom Dolan for 68 years, together they raised a happy family of 4 children. She will be greatly missed by her son, Thomas William Dolan, Jr., and his wife, Marilyn Dolan; daughters, Nancy Hains, Elaine Arnhart and her husband, Brad Arnhart, and Marianne Berry and her husband, William Berry. Pauline has 10 grandchildren, Thomas William Dolan, III, and his wife, Linda Spaulding, David Spina and his wife, Kristen Spina, William Morris Hains and his wife, Scarlett Hains, Marianne Hains, Paula Hains Eberlin, Kathryn Arnhart Swift and her husband, Brad Swift, Sarah Arnhart Sanders, Jennifer Arnhart Batty and her husband, Frank Batty, Meredith Berry Letendre and her husband, Craig James Letendre, Michael Dolan Berry; 8 great-grandchildren, Virginia Eberlin, Joey Eberlin, Brady Swift, Evie Swift, Mia Sanders, Caleb Sanders, Lilly Batty, and Olivia Batty. She also has many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Pauline will always be remembered for her perfectly roasted Thanksgiving turkeys, her signature banana bread which she readily gifted to her family and special friends, and her “secret recipe” for homemade meatballs. She was a woman of the arts and literature; a gifted painter, craft maker, and an avid reader. In early years, a singer with big bands, and later years even sang with the Charlotte Symphony at Christmas. Pauline saw extraordinary beauty in nature, but most of all, in her family and friends. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, Springfield, VA, on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:30am. Burial to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, VA. Immediately following, all are invited to join the family to raise a toast to the wonderful life of Pauline Dolan.
