Entered into eternal rest on May 29, 2023, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Born May 7, 1950 in Wiesbaden, Germany to Mary Pendergast and Col. Leo John Clark (US Air Force). Beloved husband of Elaine and proud father of Brian. He graduated from Chaminade University in Honolulu and had a 32-year career as an FBI analyst. A Funeral Mass will be held on June 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Annandale, Virginia.
Mike was a great American. He and Elaine always had the American flag on display at their front door, and no Federal holiday went uncelebrated! Mike was also a super fan of the old Washington Redskins. Hamburgers and beer were not enough for game day -- Mike and Elaine went all out! They would wear the season’s lucky Redskins shirts and would have a full size and vintage range of team shirts on hand for friends to change into! Win or lose, everyone had fun on game day with the Clarks! Mike also loved to dance, and it didn’t take much to get him going – he had the moves like Jagger!
Summer vacation meant Ocean City, Maryland. Every year at the Saint Philip Catholic Church Festival, Mike would strain the vacation budget to bid on a beach condo. He did not hold back if it meant fun in the sun! Mike had gone to college in sunny Hawaii, where his father was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base, and he remained close and up-to-date with his friends ever since.
Mike was a generous man and a thoughtful friend. He and Elaine would never miss a birthday or a chance to offer congratulations or extend support. Their home was built on love and full of love. He was the perfect partner to Elaine. He lived to make her happy.
Mike was an only child so Elaine’s many siblings were an important extended family. He loved making his world-famous mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at Elaine’s family home. And her parents were crazy about Mike!
Mike was a devoted dad and his first concern was for his son Brian. He was serious about being present in Brian’s life and serious about providing an example. Like Mike’s own father Leo, Brian towered above Mike at 6’5” and they were an imposing pair. Strong and good men.
Mike leaves Elaine, Brian and his friends with the blessing of having had him in their lives, and many great memories of his larger-than-life presence, especially during happy times.
