Martha Berkshire Peterson, a kind and generous friend, died on February 17 after a brief illness. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and after graduating from the University of Cincinnati she became a military wife, eventually settling in Alexandria. She lived in Greenspring Village at her death, where she enjoyed baking for her friends, Wii bowling, and making monthly visits to play the slots.
She is survived by her children Lynn (Robert) Mobley of Great Falls, Andrew Peterson of Fort Valley, VA and Ellen (Kevin) Reed of Annandale, grandchildren Erin and Kerry Reed, and by her former husband Lt. Col. James Peterson of Burke, as well as a foster daughter, Carol Palmateer of Alexandria.
She will be interred in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, beside her mother and grandmother, in the spring.
