Madeline Marsh passed away surrounded by her husband Gregory J. Marsh and her sons David Wilson Riley and Danny Wilson Riley, on the 8th of October 2012 in the ICU unit of INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.
Madeline was born October 4th, 1943 in McAlpin, WV. She married Earl Riley in 1963 and they had two sons, David and Danny. Madeline and Earl divorced in 1976. She married Gregory J. Marsh in 1985. Madeline and Greg lived in Prince William County until 1994 when they moved to Nufringen Germany. They moved back to the USA in 2001 and settled in Annandale, Virginia.
Madeline was a graduate of East Bank High School, East Bank, WV. She was a licensed Cosmetologist and managed hair salons for many years. Later, she went to Real Estate school and became a licensed Realtor. She retired in 1990.
She died from complications related to her six year battle with Multiple Myeloma (often called bone cancer).
She leaves behind her husband, two sons, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Ann, that she considered to be her daughter.
Her family requests that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation (http://myeloma.org) in lieu of flowers. Research is the only way that this terrible disease will ever become curable. Madeline was the first patient her Oncologist was able to give a new drug that was just approved on August 21, 2012, and it was beginning to work for her when she got an unstoppable and unrelated infection. Without research, that drug would never have been developed.
