She was born on November 20, 1943 in Jeonju, South Korea and was the eldest of seven children of Nam Soo Kim (father) and Ui Soon Kim (mother). While working as a manager in a trading company, she met and married her husband in 1968. She moved to America with her husband and two children in December 1975. She resided in Ohio from 1975 until 2021 when she was transferred to a nursing home facility in Columbia, MD after suffering a stroke and other health complications in July 2019.
She had two passions in her life - God and her family. She lived her life with incredible devotion to her family forgoing the prevalent consumerism of American culture to ensure her children was afforded a safe and comfortable environment, unlike the one she experienced growing up in war torn Korea. When she was not tirelessly working laborious jobs supporting her family, she spent her time with her church, studying scripture, or in prayer. She was a woman with an oversized heart, humorous wit, deep wisdom, amazing perseverance, and an overall joyful personality.
She is survived by her husband, Chong Sool Kim of 84 years, her son Tae and partner Hye and his children Noah and Annabelle; her daughter Younghee and her husband Todd and their children Justin and Brandon.
