Passed away peacefully on August 31, 2010 amongst the company of his family. Born in the Bronx, NY, but reared in Southern Maryland and hailing from Surrattsville High School, John went on to graduate from Georgetown University. After a brief stint in Des Moines, Iowa where he met his future wife and mother of his children, he returned to DC, the city he loved. Although he would have wanted to be remembered as the Great Gatsby of our time, instead he will be celebrated for his humor and infinite hospitality. He was an avid follower of music and sports and he could wax philosophical for hours from Brian Wilson to the Red Sox bullpen. Always ready to socialize and geared to entertain, he would ensure your glass was full, plate was empty, and sides were aching. Those who knew John will miss him, and those who loved him will forever lament his absence. John is survived by his loving wife, three children and three brothers. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA 22151. Burial will be private.
