George was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Garrett Joseph Lynch and Gladys E Lynch nee Eicher on January 10th, 1931. He graduated from Altoona High School. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He married Estella Lee Lynch nee Thomas on December 13th, 1957, in Hialeah, Florida. He worked as an airline mechanic for American Airlines for 42 years.
After retirement, George volunteered as a docent at both the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, and Gatsby’s Tavern and Museum in Alexandria Virginia. He also volunteered for the Fairfax County Drug and Alcohol Services
George is preceded in death by his father and mother, his brothers William Edward Lynch, of Monticello, Florida, Patrick Joseph Lynch of Alexandria, Virginia, and his sisters Margaret Ridinger of Seaford, Delaware, and Mary Catherine (Bonnie) Rubin of Port St. Lucie, Florida
George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Estella, children Thomas Edward Lynch (Jakeline Patricia O’Neil), of Leonardtown, Maryland, Paul Kevin Lynch of Burke, Virginia, and grandchildren Austin Thomas Lynch (Traci Hoke) of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and Abigail Catherine Lynch (Brett Thomas) of Detroit, Michigan, Jackson Patrick Lynch and Harrison Eicher Lynch of Leonardtown, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to The Nativity Catholic Church of Burke, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Springfield.
