Randy Robey of Annandale, Virginia passed on Friday April 5th, 2019 at Regency Care of Arlington – after a brave, hard-fought battle with a number of health challenges.
A proud father and husband, avid sports fan, and loyal 53-year work horse for MetLife, Robey was a golfer equally at home on the links and the 19th hole, where he made and kept friends for life. (He will be buried as he wished: wearing a golf shirt, as if headed to Springfield Country Club, where he ‘hit ‘em straight’ and held court for years as a long-time member.) A graduate of McLean High School and the University of Miami, whenever Robey asked, “Can I tell you something?” with a wry grin, you could be sure you were about to hear an entertaining story to remember. Robey’s exploits and accomplishments also ranged from an accomplished, spirited Little League Baseball coach in West Springfield, to a celebrated member of the Lions Club of Northern Virginia.
He will be missed with moist eyes and smiles by his wife Kathy Felling, children Katherine Cohen, Kelley Horner, and Patrick Robey; Kathy’s children Eileen Smith, Brad Felling and Matthew Felling; Kelley’s husband Michael and daughters Savannah and Olivia; Eileen’s children Addison and Andrew.
His life will be celebrated at a viewing on Wednesday, April 10, 2018 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, Virginia. A funeral mass will take place at St. Michael Church, 7401 St. Michael Lane, Annandale, Virginia, on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m.
Immediately following mass, there will be a luncheon at Kilroy’s, 5250 Port Royal Road, Springfield, Virginia.
Interment will be private and at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Randy to St. Jude’s.
