daughters, Betty J. Pague, Pattie L. Corbin (Alan Welday) and Mary L. Schofield (Dave); grandchildren, Megan and David Schofield and Niece and Nephews, Gloria Schuster, Ron Rector, Bill, Rector and Jeremy Batson. Marie is preceded in death by her parents Cedric I. and Clara A. Evans, and sisters L. Jean Rector and Carole L. King. All who knew Marie were graced by her gentle spirit, caring nature and zest for life. As a lifelong resident of Northern Virginia, Marie was involved in her workplace and community. She was employed by Verizon Communications Inc. for over 25 years. When she retired in 1990, Marie was a Financial Operations Manager. After retiring, she volunteered in many capacities at Virginia Hospital Center (formerly Arlington Hospital) and at the Arlington Forest United Methodist Church where she oversaw the church’s budget until 3 years ago. She loved to travel and was an avid bridge player who was always looking for a group to play with. She was an adventurous cook who loved to bake and experiment with new recipes. A Memorial Service will be held at Greenspring Village, 7470 Spring Village Drive, Springfield, VA 22150, Garden Ridge Building, Meeting Room 1 on April 3, 2018 at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
