He was born on August 26, 1951 to Louis Edward “Ed” and Florence Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Booth) Trempe in Burbank, CA.
Bob was a proud California native graduating from John Burroughs High School in 1969, he went on to study Microbiology at UCLA. He later earned an MS in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Transportation, Business & Public Policy from the University of Maryland.
Bob was a devoted son, husband, father, brother-in-law and uncle. He met the love of his life, Mary “Diane” (nee Swift) in Germany and they married at Ramstein Air Force Base (AFB). They became proud parents of two wonderful daughters, Colleen and Sarah.
He was Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was an animal lover and had many interests including, music, skiing, camping, canoeing, travel, road trips and was a motorcycle enthusiast.
Bob served in the United States Air Force for nearly 21 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1994. His tours of duty included Ramstein AFB in Germany, Osan AFB in South Korea, Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio and several other air force bases in the US. During his time in the Air Force, Bob was a Master Transportation Officer, a squadron and group level commander, director of the graduate transportation management program and taught graduate courses in transportation and logistics.
Bob’s final tour with the Air Force brought him to Washington, DC where he completed his military service. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued to work in the transportation field as a project manager and consultant for several government consulting firms. In 2007 he found a home as a consultant at The Paxton Companies where he continued to work until his death.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Betty, his wife Diane, and his daughter Colleen. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah, two cousins, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on January 25th at Kilroy’s in Springfield, VA from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
