It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of a Barbara Ann Murray. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara’s prayers of joining her dearly departed husband Ret. Col. Warren E Murray Sr. were answered on 7/9/2022.
She was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on 12/12/39 and raised by Dorothy and Alvin Ladino.
She met her husband, Warren Sr. and after a brief courtship, they were married on September 17, 1961. They were soon blessed by three children that she raised while serving her country as a military wife.
Throughout her life, she aspired to help others. She was very proud of her work as a volunteer at Fairfax Hospital and considered her colleagues to be her “other family.” When asked just before her passing what her most prideful accomplishment was, aside from raising her three children, she responded quickly with a smile of satisfaction with, “earning my Nursing degree."
Another highlight of her life was being able to meet her biological mother, Margaret Cafferty as well as her Irish uncle and cousins.
Her family will remember her for her strong Catholic faith. Others will fondly recall her homemade Lasagna, often made as a welcoming dish for new neighbors and always for family celebrations.
Her children will never forget her helping them address their apprehension of school's opening day each year, by making them a big batch of fresh Toll House cookies.
Later in life, she was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Most importantly of all, she will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
The family is asking, in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to your favorite charity in her name.
Mrs. Murray's interment at Arlington Cemetery will be held at a later date.
