Born October 4, 1935 in Alton, Illinois to Albert and Blanche Croze, Barbara spent the majority of her childhood and teenage years in Kailua, Hawaii. She was a graduate of Punaho School and attended Oregon State University. She met her husband, Tom, while working as an accountant for the Pearl Harbor Officers Club. That meeting began a 36-year adventure as a Marine Corps military spouse living in Hawaii, Germany, and South Korea — as well as throughout the United States — where she forged lifelong friendships and impacted numerous lives through her involvement in military spouse organizations and the American Red Cross. She is the proud sponsor of the dock landing ship USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44). After their retirement from the Marine Corps, she found her greatest pleasures in traveling around the world with Tom, doing interior design work, and staying involved with various military organizations. Her greatest love though was for her family, and she spent most, if not all, of her time finding ways to support them. The twinkle of a smile in her bright blue eyes, her kind and generous spirit, her strength, and her ability to walk barefoot in any kind of weather were unforgettable to anyone who had the great fortune to meet her.
She is survived by her devoted, lifelong partner of 66 years, Thomas R. Morgan, their three daughters and their husbands, Lynn Morgan and Scott Rothenberg, Susan and Larry Anderson, and Beth Morgan and Demetrio Cuzzocrea; four grandsons, Alan Herzog and his wife, Frankie Kennedy, Brandon Herzog, Thomas Cuzzocrea, and Jack Cuzzocrea; one great granddaughter, Audrey Herzog; and her older brother, Larry Croze, and younger sister, Kathy Croze. She was predeceased by her sisters, Joyce Watson and Fammie Collison.
Per her wishes there will be a small, private service with immediate family and a private interment at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the American Red Cross or Semper Fi & America's Fund.
