Zachary Gene Guppy, 25, of Belleville, formerly of Springfield and Chatham, died June 11, 2013 at St. Elizabeth�s Hospital in Belleville after a fall. He was born on May 6, 1988 in Peoria to Ronald and Holly Salter Guppy, Jr. As an 11 year old boy, Zach was diagnosed with a pituitary brain tumor. After surgery, he suffered from the effects of the various treatments until his death. Zack lived in a group home and worked alongside his housemates at various jobs. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 2007 and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed swimming, fishing and spending time with his family. Video games, music and movies dominated his free time. Zack is survived by his parents; sisters, Abigail and Breanna Guppy all of Chatham; Grandparents, Ronald (Sandra J.) Guppy, Sr. of Springfield, Roberta Guppy of Bartonville, and Donald (Betty) Salter of Peoria; aunts and uncles, Vincent (Leslie) Salter of Coon Rapids, MN, and Robin (Jeff) Hardyman of Rockton; cousins, Daniel, Matthew and Jena Hardyman, and Evan Salter. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Edgar and Maida Guppy, Robert and Katheryn Kinsey, Donald and Wilma Salter, Clyde and Hazel Mandrell. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: His family will greet friends from 9am until the time of the service at 11am, Saturday, June 15, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2800 W. Jefferson Street, Springfield, 62702, with Pastor Jon Berg officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church. Cremation rites will be accorded after the ceremony by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham.
