

William "Bill" Lee Cooper, Jr., 69, of Riverton, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his residence. Bill was born on June 24, 1947 in Peoria, the son of William Cooper, Sr. and Lena Elizabeth Rinalde Cooper. He married Shirley Carter on June 30, 1967 in Springfield. Bill was a 1965 graduate of Lanphier High School. He retired from the State of IL as a Teamster in 2005 and worked construction for the Teamsters before that. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #916. After retirement, Bill and his wife operated the Buy and Sell Shop. Bill enjoyed boating, raising horses and livestock, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Carlos Cooper; his parents; and one sister, Roberta Schuster. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Riverton; one son, William "Bill" III (wife, Emily) of Riverton; four grandchildren, Billy Cooper IV, Isabella Cooper, Noah Young, and Brooks Cooper; two siblings, Jack L. (wife, Charlotte) Cooper of Peoria and Barbara J. (husband, Ralph) Green of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Scott Thelander, SJC officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
