William R. "Bill" Bundy, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born August 15, 1928 in Centralia, the son of Troy and Carrie Bundy. He married Angela Zappa on July 31, 1952. He attended barber college in St. Louis, Missouri after graduating from high school. He was a barber in the Springfield area for 42 years, and he owned and operated The Golden Shears barber shop for the last 20 years of his barbering career. He retired in 1990 and enjoyed extensive traveling throughout the world with his wife, Angela. He was an active member in the Springfield Jaycees from 1957 to 1964 and was given the Outstanding Man of the Year Award in 1959. Bill attended Westside Christian Church and was a beloved member of the TNT Sunday School class. Bill was very involved in establishing BINGO fundraisers for the local AARP chapter. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, J. D. Bundy. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Angela; children, Mary Lou (husband, Jay) Jackson of Petersburg, Tom (wife, Chery) Bundy of Springfield, Cathy (husband, Dennis) McKenzie of Glenarm and Candi (husband, Ron) Lamkey of Riverton; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Bill enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Bill never knew a stranger and always had a great sense of humor. Bill's family will greet friends and relatives from 5 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
