Walt was born March 19, 1955 the son of Elmer Gene Foster and Mable Alice Crocker in Wood River, IL. He married Karen “Kay” (Walker) Foster on July 16, 1983 and they divorced August 24, 2005. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his sons Charles B. Foster III and Michael W. Foster of Springfield, mother, sister Caren (husband Kevin) Howie, brother Charles (wife Polly) B. Foster II, five nieces, four great nieces, one nephew and three great-nephews.
Walt was a loving father and served in the US Air Force from 1980 to 1988 in the Satellite Communication Division and currently employed by Bunn.
Walt was an avid 49rs football and Cardinals baseball fan, loved Star Trek, enjoyed cooking for his friends and family, playing his guitar, sketching, painting, and listening to jazz and blues music, loved to DJ and worked for WSSR and W3E in Taylorville. He had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun and enjoy life. He was a member of ACE (American Coasters Enthusiasts) and the Illinois Blues Association. He was also a member of the Rochester Christian Church.
A memorial service will be 12:30 pm Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home at 505 East Allen, Springfield, IL., with Reverend Mike Jakaitis officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Illinois Blues Association.
