She was born on May 11, 1960 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Charlie and Rowena Black. She married Tad Rice on July 4, 1995 in Springfield and he survives.
Mrs. Rice worked for District 186 in Springfield at the “Scope” office. She was a very active member and volunteer at South Fork Church in Rochester, IL. She loved attending her daughter’s dance recitals and spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and traveling. She loved her 2 dogs, Roxy and Tulip, and grandpuppy, Buster. Vicki and her husband regularly donated to the APL (Animal Protective League), World Vision, and the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
Besides her husband Tad, she is survived by her mother, Rowena Black of Springfield, a daughter, Tara (fiancé Jarrod Frost) Leschewski, of St. Charles, MO, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Black.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where visitation will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 10 am at the funeral home. Per her wishes, cremation rites will follow.
