Tom was born July 14, 1938, in Springfield, the son of John Daley and Gladys Powell Poi. He married the love of his life, Melba Jean Parish, on February 9, 1962, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on February 1, 2012.
Tom graduated from the state of Hawaii and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed with CWLP until his retirement. He was a jack of all trades and took pride in his accomplishments. Tom truly enjoyed working and helping others. He was funny, witty, sharp and had the kindest soul. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Above all else, Tom loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Chuck Kluge of Springfield; daughters, Lori-Lynn Stancil of Springfield and Colleen (husband, Tom) Stults of Carlinville; grandchildren, Rachel (husband, Mark) Bacon, Chans (wife, Tareyn) Kluge, Mitchell Stancil, Joshua Carnduff, Samuel (wife, Sicily) Kluge, and Jordan Carnduff; siblings, Patricia Anderson, Phyllis (husband, John) Holmin, Marcia (husband, David) Sykuta, and Alan “Butch” (wife, Vickie) Daley, all of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at St. Katharine Drexel at Sacred Heart Church, 722 S. 12th St., Springfield. Illinois COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, requiring face coverings and limiting attendance to 125 people at one time. Funeral Mass to follow at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. James Isaacson, S. Private burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
