Sylvia M. Chepulis, 83, of Springfield, died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital Hospice. Sylvia was born October 17, 1921 in Springfield the daughter of Stanley and Catherine Rice Petrokas. She married Joseph Chepulis in 1945 and he preceded her in death 1987. Mrs. Chepulis was a graduate of Lanphier High School. She had been co-owner and business manager for Champion Garage. She belonged to the Lithuanian-American Club of central Illinois; she was a member of the Zonta International and was active in the Girl Scouts. She was also a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Mary Ann. She is survived by two sons: Joseph C. (wife, Sharon) Chepulis of Springfield, John S. (wife, Kathy) Chepulis of Rochester; three daughters: Mary K. Chepulis of Springfield, Patricia A. (husband, Larry) Wade of Glenarm, Bernadine (husband, Pete) Dombroski of Springfield; seven grandchildren: Jessica (husband, Nathan) Brinkman of Shersher, Joseph Chepulis, Jr., John P. Chepulis, Jamie Chepulis, Katie Dombroski, Kyle Dombroski and Natalie Chepulis all of Springfield; three great grandchildren: Alyssa Williams, Gretchen Brinkman and Mary Grace Brinkman; one sister: Ruth Lustig of Minnesota and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2110 N. 20th St. Springfield, IL 62702 with Rev. Thomas Liebler. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Bread Line, c/o Catholic Charities of Springfield, 120 S. 11th St. Springfield, IL 62703 or the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Department, 11th & Jefferson, Springfield, IL 62703.
