Stan was born on May 6th 1954, son of Lawrence “Jim” and Elizabeth “Jeanne” (Young) Sandidge, of Springfield, both deceased. He married Pat (Sarff) Sandidge on October 9th 1987.
Stan is survived by his wife, son Joe Painter III, daughter Katie (Sandidge) Stone (Josh), grandchildren Jacen, Allison and Madison Stone. Sister Janet (Graber) Curtis, step-mother Lorraine (Stults) Sandidge, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Laura (Sandidge) Saladino (CJ).
Stan was a life long resident of Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School in 1972. After graduation, he served with the Army Corp of Combat Engineers in Europe from 1972 to 1975. He served with the Army National Guard in Springfield from 1980 to 1982. After military service he worked at several local area hardware stores. In 1984 he worked for the Illinois State Police Data Center. Stan was later employed by Cquest America and returned to the State in 2006 with the Department of Central Management Services. At the time of his death, he was retired from the State of Illinois.
Stan was a lover of life, laughter and fun. In his youth, he enjoyed baseball, bowling, woodworking, and spending time with his friends at the bar. In the later years, he enjoyed working and playing on the computer, building war memorial models to scale, collecting baseball cards, coins, and celebrity autographs. He adored his grandchildren and put up with the “damn dog” Wrigley.
At his request there will be no wake or visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Graveside military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will be held on November 17th at 2pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield which will be open to the public.
