Shirley Mae Ballard

She was born in Springfield, Nov. 19, 1927 the daughter of Carrol and Hazell (Kelly) Jones. She married Edward M. Ballard April 6, 1956 and he preceded her in death Feb. 16, 2007.

Shirley and Ed were charter members of Southside Christian Church. They were also very active and became members of Westside Christian Church. Shirley sang with “Charlies Angels” at Westside, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was an accomplished seamstress with expertise in quilting. She was a member of the Ann Rutledge Homemakers Extension Unit.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Karen Knudson, Ron (wife Marilyn) Knudson, Cynthia A. Lammert, Jennie Van Schyndel, Jim, Tom, John, and Alice Kern. There are several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Service: The Ballard family will greet friends and family from 2:00 pm Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017 at Bisch Funeral Home West. 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL until the time of her funeral service at 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Vaughn Beeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Farmington Cemetery.
