Sharon L. Urban, 74, of Springfield, passed away at 1:42 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at her residence. Sharon was born November 3, 1942 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of George and Florence Mader Stanton. Her father served in the Army Air Force as a flight instructor, so she lived many places, including Texas, Alabama, Florida, Iowa, California, Newfoundland, and in Japan for three years. She married William Urban, Jr. on May 12, 1973 in Springfield. Sharon graduated from Autauga High School in Prattville, AL in 1960. She attended college at Huntington College in Montgomery, AL. She worked for the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health, as well as the Highway Department. Sharon was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Lithuanian-American Club, where she served as treasurer for twelve years. She had also been a member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1968 and was an officer in the Independent Order of Foresters. She enjoyed traveling, hiking, and working many types of puzzles, but especially Sudoku. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Urban, Jr. of Springfield; son, Mark (Sinziana) Urban of Martinez, CA; two grandchildren, Diego and Nina; brother, George (Madeline) Stanton of Houston, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield, with Rev. Joseph Ring celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
