Sharon Kay Meyer

Sharon K. Meyer, 57, of Springfield, died at 1:26 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Sharon was born May 14, 1957 in Springfield, the daughter of Willard Smith and Shirley May DeGroot Grant. Sharon worked for the Illinois DCFS in Child Support Enforcement as a case worker. She enjoyed gardening, gospel music, garage sales and auctions. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Joshua Meyer. She is survived by her son, Joe Meyer (fiance, Shannon) of Springfield; step-father, Robert F. Grant of Sherman; six grandchildren, Jonathan, James, Nicholas, Joseph (Angela), Rachel, and Kayden, all of Springfield; one great-grandchild, Natalie of Springfield; four brothers, Terry L. Smith of Springfield, Danny R. (companion, Lori Kramer) Smith of Rochester, Michael W. (companion, JoAnn) Smith and Kevin L. Smith, both of Springfield; two step-brothers, Robert (Cindy) Grant of Petersburg, Fritz Grant of Cantrall; best friend, Becky Hutton; furry companion, Sheba; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
