Sarah P. Graham, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009 at St. John's Hospital. Sarah was born March 13, 1925 in Springfield, the daughter of Terrence Emmet and Ellen Ann Conroy Hughes of Blantyre, Scotland. Sarah was a hard working, employed with Pillsbury Mill, Park Sherman, and the State of IL before retiring after thirty years of service. She was a member of American Business Woman of America for twenty years and was active in the Democratic Party. She enjoyed Bingo and trying her luck at the casinos. Sarah was also a devoted, lifetime member of St. Patrick and St. Katharine Drexel Parish where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Preceding Sarah in death are her son, Robert Graham; her daughter, Kathleen Ann Graham; a grandson, Timothy Geary; four brothers; one sister; and her parents. She is survived by her children, James T. (companion, Kathleen Campbell) Graham and Patricia (husband, Terry) Geary, both of Springfield; five grandchildren, Michelle Geary, Joy Scheyhan, Teresa Farley, Timothy Geary, and James P. Graham; five great-grandchildren, Kala Farley, Emily and Nicholas Scheyhan, Mia Graham, and Parker Graham; her brother, Owen P. (companion, Carol) Hughes of Del Ray Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1720 S. Grand Ave., Springfield with Rev. Christopher A. House, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's School, 1720 S. Grand Ave., Springfield, IL 62703.
