Sandra A. Slingerland

She was born on January 20, 1937 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Hubert and Ella (Jennings) Triano. She married William Slingerland on Feb. 12, 1955 in Hammondsport, NY and he survives.

Sandra worked as a store manager at Judy’s Hallmark in Springfield and was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, Richard Slingerland of Lawrence, KS, and Peter (wife Bernadette) Slingerland of Ventura, CA; 6 daughters, Barbara (husband Kevin) Scoggins of Springfield, Connie (husband John) Bertomeu of Norfolk, VA, Ellen Grafton, Jenifer (husband David) Dyer, Anne (husband Ray) Colclasure, and Francesca (husband Greg) Hohimer, all of Springfield; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 brothers, Donald Triano of Dallas, TX, Martin Triano of Aberdeen, MD, and John Triano of Stouffville, Ontario, Canada.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Daniel Slingerland and 1 grandchild, Sarah Slingerland and 2 brothers, Paul and Robert Triano.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 from 9 am until time of the memorial service at 11 am, with Father Tom Donovan officiating. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield.
