She was born in Coulterville, IL, August 3, 1941 the daughter of Lawrence and Mary Parlier Darrough. She married Ronald W. Provart in Coulterville, February 12, 1965. Sandy earned her Bachelor Degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and completed post graduate studies at the Illinois State University at Normal, IL.
Sandy was an educator, with expertise in Special Education. She taught in various school districts during her career. She retired from the Sangamon County Area Special Education in 1996. She spent most of her time with the Virginia and Pleasant Plains Schools. She continued to substitute teach part time in Springfield School District 186 until 2007.
She was an active member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church where she co-taught with her husband the Young Couples Sunday School Class, taught Vacation Bible School and directed the Children’s Choir. She enjoyed needle point, latch hook, and knitting over the years. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan, but mostly, a lady of deep love for her family and strong faith. She had a contagious smile, sweet disposition and a friend to all who met her. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Ron, her two sons; Patrick (wife Karen) Provart of Springfield, and Paul (wife Angie) Provart of Chatham, IL. She has five grandsons, John, Joshua, Evan, Ian, and Dylan. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn (husband Roger) Hamilton of Sparta, IL and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents and her brother, Robert “Bob” Darrough preceded her in death.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield where visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday, June 30, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church 2125 Woodside Rd. Springfield, with Rev’s Brian Wilmarth and Gary Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery near Riverton.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cherry Hills Baptist Church or a charity of donor’s choice.
