

Samuel was born on January 8, 1963, in Springfield, the son of William and Betty Jane Lovell Draper. He married Madalyn Y. Wilson on May 14, 1994, in Springfield.
Samuel was a graduate of Southeast High School. He was currently employed at the Secretary of State in the IT Department, in which he was named Employee of the Month on several occasions. He was formerly employed with Capitol Blueprint. Samuel was very musically talented. He sang and played the guitar in multiple bands throughout the years including, Harmony Deep, Royal Pain, For the Love of Lennon, Elephant’s Gerald, Spy vs. Spy, and was an honorary member of Secret Society. He also helped many new bands get started by hosting open mic nights. He enjoyed fishing, animals, computers, and most important, his family and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Jane Draper; two sisters, Janet Gaynor and Doris Ritz; and two brothers, Bob and John Draper.
He is survived by his wife, Madalyn Draper of Springfield; one daughter, Danielle Watts of Chatham; two grandchildren, Benjamin “Ben” and Broderick “Brody” Watts, both of Chatham; one brother, Bill (wife, Sherleen) Draper, Jr. of Springfield; several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins; many special friends; and beloved dogs, Scooby and Annie.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Pasfield Southern Baptist Church, 411 W. Lenox Ave, Springfield with Pastor Milton Bost officiating.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
