Roy was born on May 3, 1947, in Springfield, the son of James and Valentina (Maley) Folker.
He attended Lanphier High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Roy was a member of and worked for Local #965 as a crane operator for over 40 years. He enjoyed motorcycles, watching the Springfield mile, and loved the idea of playing golf. Roy was a proud man and adored his family and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Dr. James Folker, and Paul Folker.
Roy is survived by his love of 18 years, Tina Prose of Pawnee; sons, Aaron (April) Folker of Jacksonville, Jason (Nicole) Folker of Hampstead, NC, Michael (Shyla) Folker of Springfield, and Clayton (Shayna) Prose of Girard; and fourteen grandchildren, Gabriele Folker, Aydin Folker, Keaton Frye, Presley Frye, Maekinzy Folker, Thatcher Frye, Kaitlyn King, Austin Folker, Rylan Folker, Connor Prose, Lucian Folker, Harlow Folker, Aidan “A.J.” Folker, and Sloan Prose.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, with Rev. George Nellikunnel, S.A.C., celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
