Ronald “Ron” Miller, 67, of Springfield, died at 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. Ron was born on March 13, 1938 in Flat Rock, IL the son of Lavern Helphingstine and Berniece Miller. He married Linda Mae Sowerby on June 10, 1979 in Springfield. Mr. Miller was a Method and Procedures Advisor of the Environmental Protection Agency for 10 years retiring July 1, 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War Era. Ron was a sportsfan and loved the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and watching Illini Basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife: Linda of Springfield; five sons: Robert A., Kevin E. and Jeffrey D. Miller all of Springfield, Mark E. (wife, Angela) Tisckos of Williamsville and Chad M. Tisckos of Valencia, CA; one daughter: Jennifer L. Miller of Springfield; five grandchildren; one sister: Bev (husband, Larry) Shafer of Mechanicsburg; one brother: John (wife, Carol) Branson of Springfield; one niece and three nephews. Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Rev. Clint Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
