Ronald E. Hudgins, Sr.

Ronald was born July 31, 1951, in Springfield, IL, the son of Eugene and Hallie Bell Hudgins. He married Claudia Woodward in Riverton, IL and were married for almost 40 years.

Ronald graduated from Lanphier High School in 1969. He was employed as a corrections officer for 22 years and retired in 2014. Ronald previously worked as a heating and air conditioning technician, a truck driver, and was a mechanic for a short time. He was a member of Riverton Christian Church and enjoyed fixing things, riding motorcycles, building model cars, and was very mechanically inclined. Ronald also became a Chicago Cubs fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his baby brother, David W. Hudgins.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Claudia Hudgins; sons, Ron Hudgins, Jr., Jason (Tanya) Hudgins, and Tim (Alyssa) Howie; daughter, Sara (Joel) Stuemke; twelve grandchildren; siblings, Brenda Sidener, Wanda Goldsby, Steve Hudgins, and Tim Hudgins; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Riverton Christian Church, 1245 N. 7th St., Riverton, IL with Pastors Brian Atwell and Nick Sutton officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
