Ronald Arthur Handlin

Ronald was born on June 13, 1943, in Lake Fork, IL, the son of Lowillis Briggs and Virginia Nichols Handlin.

Ronald was a graduate of Mount Pulaski High School and SIU Carbondale. He was active with the Lake Fork Community Center and Clearlake Township. For over 40 years, he had a career with the State of IL, and 20 years of that spent with DCFS. Ronald loved spending time with his family, enjoying time outdoors, collecting various items, golfing, and working in the yard. He was also an avid sports fan who followed the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Bruce and Gayle Ann.

He is survived by his four children, Noll “Shawn” (Cynthia Renee) Handlin of Springfield, Elissa Ann (Skip) Handlin-Taylor, Christopher J. (Sarah) Handlin, and Nathan R. (Shannon) Handlin; and three grandchildren, Dylan Briggs, Dalton Ryan, and Daryn Jordan Handlin.

Cremation was provided prior to private family ceremonies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Ron may be made to the American Cancer Society.
