Robert H. Vaughn, 86, of Chatham, passed away Monday October 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born July 4, 1927 in Auburn, Ill. to , Herbert A. and Millie Tanner Vaughn, he married Lillie M. Sims on March 31, 1967 in Springfield, Illinois.
Mr. Vaughn worked for Fyre-Williamson's as a book binding foreman before retiring. He was a member of The Independent Order of Foresters #1329 and served as chief ranger and volunteered for Mary Bryant Home for the Blind, and Ronald McDonald House. He was also a member of Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.
He is survived by three son's Robert (Veda) Vaughn of Chatham, Thomas Vaughn of Springfield, Charles (Nancy) Vaughn of Texas, six daughter's Mary (Wally) Beck of Springfield, Vickie Smith of Chatham, Nancy (Hank) Leverton of Florida, Lillie (Bob) Grobelnik of Springfield, Mary Jo (Patrick) Jackson of Springfield and Michelle Norris of Springfield, 27 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Lillie.
Visitation will be October 7, 2013 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Road, Springfield, with services at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and The Wounded Warrior Project.
