He was born on Jul 10, 1936 in Springfield, the son of the late Frank and Ethel (Hart) Perkins. He married Lorella Hill on Sept. 30, 1991 in Springfield, and she survives.
Mr. Perkins worked as a cement finisher.
Besides his wife Lorella, he is survived by a son Robert Todd Perkins; 4 step-children, Ronald Champion, Curtis (wife Dorothy) Champion, Susan Champion, all of Springfield, and Judy (husband Robert) Bell of Virden, IL; 2 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren; a sister Sue (husband Jerry) Schuh; a brother Frank A. (wife Wanda) Perkins, Jr; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Alvin Perkins, Clarence Hart, Marie M. Pottorff, Emma Henry, Alvita Dickerson, Charles Hart, Thomas Hart, Frances Perkins Bruss, and Mrs. Joe (Bonnie) Perkins Patterson.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 9 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am. Rev. Vaughn Beeman will officiate. Per his wishes, cremation rites will follow.
