He was born on Dec. 6, 1923 in Piatt Co., IL, the son of the late Ralph F. and Florence M. (Trigg) Oberline. He married Donna Alverson on Feb. 12, 1954 at Jerome Methodist Church.
Mr. Oberline served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy in WWII. He worked for the State of Illinois Youth Commission and Dept. of Corrections, retiring after thirty years of service. He loved working crossword puzzles, enjoyed all kinds of music, especially Lawrence Welk, was a bird-watcher and animal lover.
He is survived by his wife Donna,; 2 sons, Thomas Oberline of Springfield, and Michael W. (wife Marcella) Oberline of Virden, IL; 4 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, IL.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Foundation, or the APL (Animal Protective League).
