Robert A. "Bob" McNally, 85, of Springfield, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Bob was born December 6, 1927 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Joseph and Hattie Luther McNally. He married Jacqueline Paglusch on September 10, 1955 at Trinity Evangelical in St. Louis, MO. Bob graduated from Ferguson High School in St. Louis, MO. Bob had a passion for baseball and played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1945-1950. Prior to his retirement he worked as an accountant for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. He enjoyed politics and was instrumental in several key elections and was past president of the Westside Democrats and a member of Northside Democrats. He was also a former member of the Rod & Reel Club, a past president of the Springfield Cardinals Booster Club and served as a host family for St. Louis Cardinal players and government interns. He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Stephanie McNally. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline H. McNally of Springfield; his four children, Scott R. McNally of Columbia, MO, Kim (Chic) Eades of Tempe, AZ, Stephen (Nelly) McNally of Waipahu, HI, and Jami (Carl) Severino of Springfield; his five grandchildren, Beth Ann (Matt) Cain of Carlyle, Stephen (Melissa Kaleel) of Springfield, Kristina Marie McNally, U.S. Navy, Jacksonville, FL, and Michael and Matthew Severino, both of Springfield; one great-grandson, Greyson Cain; and his beloved dog, Sunny. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Wehrenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
